When you contribute to Community Health Charities of Illinois, your contribution is directed to our 49 member charities that conduct research and provide support and care to hundreds of thousands of people across the state. Before a charity becomes a member of CHC, we conduct rigorous screening because we want you to know that your contributions will make an impact.
Member charities of CHC meet accountability standards that include the following: each charity must undergo an annual application and review process; be a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization as certified by the IRS; have an annual audit conducted in accordance with the generally accepted auditing standards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; have an active, voluntary board of directors; have fund raising and administrative costs that are at or below industry standards; and meet other specified requirements.
Charities that are national members of CHC may also be members of the Illinois affiliate if they maintain a presence in this state. Some of our Illinois members are local based in terms of their service delivery, and thus are members of the Illinois affiliate only.
